| FPCCI ZONAL CHIEF APPRECIATES UNDPS ROLE IN SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF PAKISTAN | |

United Nations Development Programme is playing an important role in the process of Social development in Pakistan. This was stated by Mr. Sohail Altaf, Zonal Chief and Vice president of FPCCI during a meeting with Mr. Haoliang XU newly appointed Deputy Resident Representative - UNDP at FPCCI Zonal Office on Tuesday.
Mr. Sotahil Altaf appreciated the role of UNDP in the social development process in Pakistan, through promotion of good governance, Poverty reduction and Environmental Protection in under-developed countries in general and Pakistan in particular.
FPCCI Zonal Chief suggested that UNDPs policies should be designed on practical grounds, so that its results are reflected in the poor segment of the society and asserted that UNDP should focus on specific and major issues and then concentrate on it only. He was of the opinion that this technique would UNDP in achieving the objectives of the Programme under taken by UNDP.
He also applauded the proactive role of UNDP in rehabilitation process of Afghanistan. Earlier in his welcome remarks Mr. Sohail Altaf, enlightened the UNDP representative with the role and activities of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry as an apex body representing the Countrys Traders and industrialists.
Mian Pervez Aslam, former Chairman Liaison Office Islamabad who was also present said that UNDP should enhance Human Resource Development. He suggested the introduction of Poly Technical Institutes in Pakistan to reduce the un-employment and poverty. He was of the opinion that the policies designed by UNDP should different for different countries according to their priorities and requirement.
Mr. Haoliang XU said that UNDP is providing financial assistance to the existing organizations according to their genuine needs. Malik Qamar Afzal, Advocate assured the interaction of UNDP with private sector of Pakistan.
